CANIX’s Toronto POP is now live. The first phase of the IXP consists of 3 nodes:
- Telehouse Carrier Room (BMMR1 / BMMR2)
- Cologix TOR1
- Coloware YTZ1
The network was build with 400G Nokia 7250 IXR routers with an IS-IS underlay and iBGP VXLAN EVPN overlay in an collapsed core topology.
A significant quantity of 10, 100 and 400G ports were pre-patched for peer connections.
This was CANIX’s first deployment of 4x100G LR1 breakout optics for maximum port density and scalability.
On the software side of things, a Proxmox cluster hosting production VMs such as IXP Manager has been distributed in all 3 POPs along with 2 dedicated hosts as BIRD Route Servers.
Stay tuned as we post more information regarding our brand new Nokia fabric and how it enables new IXP functionalities.
